What is WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) ?
The WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is associated with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, popularly known as WIC. The FMNP provides coupons for fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs to individualsĀ certified to receive WIC program benefits. FMNP coupons can be redeemed to buy eligible foods from farmers, farmers' markets or roadside stands that have been approved by the State agency to accept FMNP coupons.
Administration
WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is administered by U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).
Program Requirements
The FMNP is administered by State agencies such as State agriculture or health departments or by Indian Tribal Organizations. Not all State agencies operate the FMNP statewide.
Women, infants (over 4 months old) and children who have been certified to receive WIC program benefits or are on a waiting list for WIC certification are eligible to participate in the FMNP.
