What is Rhode Island Weatherization Assistance Program?
U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is the nation's largest residential energy efficiency program. Its mission is to insulate the dwellings of low-income persons, particularly the elderly, persons with disabilities, families with children, high residential energy users, and households with a high energy burden, in order to conserve needed energy and to aid those persons least able to afford higher utility costs.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Rhode Island. Preference may be given to:
- People over 60 years of age
- Families with one or more members with a disability
- Families with children (in most states)
In order to qualify, you must also have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below 60 percent of the State Median Income:
