What is New York Child Health Plus (CHIP)?
New York State offers Child Health Plus as a health insurance plan for kids. Depending on your family's income, your child may be eligible to join either Child Health Plus A (formerly Children's Medicaid) or Child Health Plus B. Both Child Heath Plus A and B are available through dozens of providers throughout the state. Enrolling in Child Health Plus is easy.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of New York and a U.S. Citizen, National, or a Non-Citizen legally admitted into the U.S. You must be uninsured (and ineligible for Medicaid) and meet one of the following:
- 18 years of age and under, or
- Pregnant, or
- A primary care giver with a child(ren) 18 years of age and under.
In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:
