What is Nevada Weatherization Assistance Program?

The Low Income Weatherization Assistance Program was established in 1977 to assist low income persons reduce their utility bills by providing for various energy conservation measures. With the exception of multi-family buildings (five or more units per building) assistance is provided free of charge and no liens or financial obligations are placed on individuals receiving assistance.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Nevada. Preference may be given to:

  • People over 60 years of age
  • Families with one or more members with a disability
  • Families with children (in most states)

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

*For households with more than eight people, add $5,918 per additional person. Always check with the appropriate managing agency to ensure the most accurate guidelines.

Under DOE guidelines, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization assistance if you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
