What is Minnesota Weatherization Assistance Program?
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) implements long-term energy efficiency upgrades to the homes of income-qualified households to reduce the energy burdens of the occupants. A primary priority for WAP projects is to also correct health and safety hazards and address potentially life-threatening conditions.
All homeowners and renters who are income eligible for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP) are income eligible for WAP. Priority is given to households with at least one elderly or disabled member, or with children, and to customers with the highest heating costs or energy burden. WAP is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Energy.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Minnesota. Preference may be given to:
• People over 60 years of age
• Families with one or more members with a disability
• Families with children
• Households determined to be high energy consumers.
In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

Under DOE guidelines, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization assistance if you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
