What is Maine MaineCare?
MaineCare is Maine’s Medicaid program. It is funded by the federal and state government. MaineCare provides free or low-cost health insurance and other health benefits to Mainers who meet certain requirements, usually based on income, disability, or age. MaineCare helps to ensure that all Maine people are able to access the critical health services, both preventative and emergency, that enable them to live healthy, safe, and resilient lives.

MaineCare (Maine’s Medicaid program) provides free and low-cost coverage for Mainers who meet requirements based on household composition, income, and/or disability status. MaineCare covers doctor visits, emergencies, substance use disorder treatment, prescription drugs, and more. With the expansion of MaineCare in 2019, more individuals are now eligible. In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:
