What is Indiana Hoosier Healthwise?
Hoosier Healthwise is a health insurance program for Indiana children and pregnant women. Health care is provided at little or no cost to Indiana families enrolled in the program. The enrolled member chooses a doctor to get regular checkups and health care for illnesses. Other health needs such as prescriptions, dental care, vision care, family planning services, and mental health services are also available as part of the Hoosier Healthwise program. The Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) is also administered through Hoosier Healthwise.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Indiana and meet all of the following:
- Either 18 years of age and under or a pregnant woman, and
- A U.S. Citizen, National, or a Non-Citizen legally admitted into the U.S.
For families with moderately higher income who only qualify for CHIP, children must also be uninsured and monthly premiums, ranging from $22 to $70 based on family size and income, must be paid.
In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

A pregnant woman’s unborn children are counted in figuring her household size.
A disregard of 5% of the annual Federal Poverty Limit will be applied to family income for Hoosier Healthwise and CHIP.
